“Is it right for you to be angry about the plant?” Jonah 4:9

This was God’s response to Jonah’s attitude about the ways of God.
He was angry that God relented and did not destroy the people of Nineveh.
And then Jonah was angry over the plant that God provided to shelter and comfort him.
Jonah was given an assignment by God. At first he refused to go to Nineveh and tried to run away. He was convicted by God and repented while inside a whale.
Jonah was finally obedient to God and traveled to Nineveh and proclaimed the message of God. This is where he should have stopped, returned home praising God, and left the results up to God.
Jonah believed that he knew better than God how to deal with Nineveh. He wanted to punish them for their wickedness!
God works in mysterious ways! He gives and He takes! God rules with justice that you and I cannot understand.
You have to accept God for who He is and be obedient to His calling. When God calls you to action, do as instructed and then leave the results up to Him. You cannot second guess God! He is perfect.
The provisions of God are a gift to you. They may be something simple like the plant that comforted Jonah, a sunny day, or enjoying the companionship of a friend.
Be thankful in all circumstances! Let God be God. He knows precisely what He is doing!
Thought for the day:

“You cannot understand My ways. Learn to be thankful giving Me praise for both the good things and your troubles. Come before Me with respect and honor and accept that I alone have power and dominion over the heavens and earth. I am a perfect God!”
