How to defeat evil through Christ Jesus?

“When tempted, no one should say, “God is tempting me.” For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does he tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed. Then, after desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, gives birth to death.” James 1:13-15

This is not something that can be dealt with through simple prayers and reciting the scriptures of God. They will not defeat the devious actions of Satan.

As a starting point, you have to understand how evil originates in the life of a human being. Remember, you are dealing with Satan and his legion of demons.

The evil originates in the heart of a person who is enticed (or seduced) by Satan to fulfill evil desires. This usually happens by Satan putting evil thoughts or desires in the person’s mind. At this time the person is at a threshold to either turn away from the temptation or allow the desire to be conceived into sin. If the person gives power to the temptation then sin will be worked out in his life and eventually lead to a stronghold of Satan. Then Satan will own the person’s life.

The challenge is learning how you can bring down strongholds over others. This can be accomplished through intercession or acting with the resurrected power of Christ to dispel demons.

Intercession is not under your control. It is a weapon of God to bring down strongholds. God may empower you with the gift of intercession and this will be your strategy to defeat Satan. Jesus will make intercession through the Holy Spirit dwelling within you to bring down the stronghold.

The hybrid approach is to ask God to appoint you as an intercessor and to actively attack the stronghold.

If the person is not willing to change then intercession and prayer is probably the priority to defeat Satan.

Since you are dealing in the invisible realm of God you have to seek the counsel of Jesus in conducting spiritual warfare.

If God directs you to take action against the stronghold the first thing is to ask Jesus to share His authority with you in defeating Satan. Without this you will fail.

When God gives you the green light to proceed you have to understand who you are dealing with in this war. All of the demons have names. Ask God to identify the head demon who has power over this person. (There are probably other demons but the head is your target.) Listen to God as He will reveal the name of the head demon and possibly the other demons.

Now you are ready to boldly command the head demon by his name to leave this person and tell him he has been defeated by the blood of Jesus. Then command any other demons to leave using the same words. They have to obey your words.

If the person is a non believer or a Christian who is not yielding to God the demons will leave but then will come back with a stronger army of workers. This is why intercession is so important in spiritual warfare.

Persevere even if you see no results. Pray about using group intervention as another strategy to confront someone with a stronghold over them.

Ask other believers to come along side you and pray against the stronghold. The prayers of God’s people produce powerful results.

Jesus has given you the keys to the kingdom of God. Whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.

In the present condition of moral corruption in our world spiritual warfare is the priority of God. It will never fail!
