But that no one is justified by the law in the sight of God is evident, for “the just shall live by faith.” Yet the law is not of faith, but “the man who does them shall live by them.” Galatians 3:11-12
This is the cornerstone biblical principle dealing with how to walk with God but very few get it.
There is absolutely nothing you can do to on your own to be justified by God. This includes works or service, keeping laws, or participating in religious activities. They are of no value in building a relationship with God.
The just (or righteous) shall live by faith.
The law contradicts faith. The law requires you to earn your salvation. This is an insult to Jesus who died on the Cross.
If you choose to go this route you must keep every requirement of the Ten Commandments which no human being has ever been able to accomplish.
You and I are impoverished souls and we have no right to come before God. Nothing can change this barrier except for the blood of Christ and the redemption offered through the death of Jesus.
Salvation is a gift from God which you are undeserving to receive. Entitlement with God comes only by faith.
There is no obligation on the part of God to bless you because of your works. God will favor those who walk by faith believing in His promises regardless of the circumstances in their life.
You can never get right with God but He can make you blameless in His sight through the blood of Jesus. You will still have your sins, compulsions, and self indulgent behaviors. They will never go away but Jesus excuses your sins and sees you through the work of the Cross.
This is the gift of salvation!
