Don’t try to imitate Jesus!

Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’

First of all, you cannot be like Jesus. Effort or intellect will not make you like Jesus. You must be born again with a new identity.

If you try to emulate Jesus you will come across as a religious prude and turn people off.

When someone becomes a believer they are trained by religion to please God by keeping laws and doing works.

Jesus died to break this practice but religion can’t seem to grasp the purpose of the Cross.

The distinction of a Christ follower has to do with relationship building with Jesus. This is the priority in the heart of Jesus. He wants a symbiotic and personal partnership with a believer.

The believer must come to know Jesus, hear His voice and learn how to walk in oneness with Him. Jesus is looking for believers who are serious about seeking the will of God and living by faith.

Jesus wants believers who are devoted to Him above all else and are obedient to His instructions.

This relationship can only be achieved by living under the authority of the Holy Spirit. He is the life of Jesus and is sealed inside all believers. He desires to give you omniscient wisdom and protection. He teaches you the values of Jesus.

Commit your works each day to God and submit to the Holy Spirit and you will be amazed how the reality of the Living Christ will spring into your life. He will be alive in all the moments of each day.

Jesus will transform you into His character which will allow you to be a powerful witness for Him.

The Cross is the key to becoming like Jesus. The Cross baptizes believers with the Holy Spirit and fire. The Spirit crushes your ego and pride. He convicts you of sin and ties to the world.

The Cross is the only way you can function like Jesus. And, it is not you but Jesus doing the works of God through the power of the Holy Spirit.

The priority is to pray, read the Bible, and listen for the voice of God.

Jesus is perfect and without sin. Every believer has an inner nature to defy God and satisfy self. Jesus knows you better than you know yourself. He sees your imperfections and genetic dispositions for compulsive behaviors.

This is why you must be open to conviction and correction. Jesus is not looking for perfection but a willing heart to change.

It is not by might nor by power but by My Spirit!
