Choosing the freedom of Jesus or the suffocating effect of religion.

“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” Galatians 5:1

The Holy Spirit spoke to me last night about the suffocating influence of religion on a believer.

The Christ follower has to make a choice to live in the freedom of Jesus or become suffocated by religion.

Christianity requires a believer to keep laws, do works and abide in the rules of a church. The believer becomes immersed in religion and loses the personal and embracing relationship with Jesus.

Jesus despises religion because it wants to control a believer. The motives of most churches are self serving.

Jesus came to set people free from sin and give believers a new identity through a “born again” experience.

The purpose of Jesus is to develop a personal relationship with a believer built on faith and obedience. He desires to consistently speak to a believer, teach him the values of Jesus and be very present in his life.

Jesus is not about building your life on works. He wants you to get to know Him personally, understand His ways and walk in oneness with Him anchored to the Holy Spirit.

Jesus died so a believer can have the gift of salvation and live with Jesus forever. Salvation is living in the reality of Jesus one day at a time.

Making a decision for salvation is a life changing experience. The believer dies to self and agrees to live for Jesus above all else.

The Holy Spirit is the portal to walk with the Living Christ. He is sealed in all believers and is the source to the powerful attributes of Jesus.

The believer must invite the Holy Spirit to have authority over his life and follow the omniscient wisdom and guidance of the Spirit.

Jesus offers a life of order and simplicity. Pray vigilantly, read the Word, and listen for His voice.

Commit your works each day to Jesus and seek His good, acceptable and perfect will.

Jesus will give you a life you can never achieve on your own!
