How to receive the words and knowledge of Jesus?

Day unto day utters speech, and night unto night reveals knowledge.

God desires to speak to you every day of your life and while you sleep He wants to reveal knowledge.

How can you and I receive the revelations of Jesus?

The Christ follower must be walking in oneness with Jesus and zealously seeking the will of God for his life.

He has to be living under the authority of the Holy Spirit.

He prays constantly and listens for the voice of God. He has the mind of Christ.

Sin grieves the Holy Spirit. He is life of Christ and the source of the words of Jesus. If you want to hear Jesus you must be covered by His blood and seeking repentance for the darkness in your life.

Jesus is very approachable and wants to have a symbiotic relationship with you. Draw near to God and He will draw near to you.

The Christ follower is transformed into the character of God by the Cross. As a new creature in Christ Jesus the old things fade away and are replaced by the new qualities of Jesus.

If a believer resists the work of God to crucify his old nature he can never experience the reality of the Living Christ. The words of God will be hidden from him.

The Living Christ controls the universe and wants to be in your life forever.

Is your propensity driven by Jesus or self?

The word from the Holy Spirit today is propensity which refers to the tendency to behave in a particular way.

Why do you and I screw up when we are trying to do good? The answer is our propensity is coming from the wrong source.

Propensity governs your behavior. It can be influenced by God through the Holy Spirit or your natural desires.

Propensity is also indicated by your moral compass which can be the values of God or the world.

Most believers get into trouble when they allow their emotions and desires to guide their decision making. Your natural desires when left unharnessed will always lead to destruction and misery.

This is why we need the quintessential qualities of Christ.

The purpose of Jesus is for a believer to walk in oneness with Him. This will bring an abundant life and the omniscient protection of Jesus.

Why do we straddle between our natural desires and the pathway of God?

There are a number of reasons but the most significant is we do not live under the authority of the Holy Spirit.

He is the life of Jesus and is sealed inside in all believers. He cannot sin and will always bring glory to Jesus.

Commit your works each day to Jesus and submit to the authority of the Holy Spirit.

Listen to the voice of God and obey His instructions.

Read the Bible and ask God to help you appropriate the values of Jesus in your life.

Learn to be in conscious awareness with the Holy Spirit.

Do not make hasty decisions out of your emotions. This will always lead you astray.

Be open to the conviction and correction of Jesus. Your sinful nature will never go away but can be minimized by the transforming work of the Holy Spirit.

Pray the blood of Christ over you every day and have a heart of repentance to turn away from darkness.

God knows you will never be perfect but you can lead a life pleasing to Jesus!

Exploiting Jesus?

The Holy Spirit spoke the word exploiting today referring to many Christians who attempt to use Jesus for selfish reasons.

This narrative speaks to the relationship between Jesus and a believer. The decision for Jesus is “Not my will but Yours be done”. We are a servant and Jesus is the master in this partnership.

Jesus is not heavy handed with a desire to make your life burdensome. He wants to bless you abundantly.

Jesus just wants you to make Him your priority above all else and genuinely seek His will for your life. The fulfillment of your desires are subservient to asking Jesus to be the centerpiece of your life.

The believer seeks the will of God through prayer, listening to the voice of God, and reading the Bible.

The crucial goal is to remove any darkness in your life. Ask Jesus what needs to go?

The Holy Spirit will show you fleshly desires and compulsive behaviors that must cease in your life along with ties to the world.

These sinful conditions require the cleansing of the blood of Christ and repentance which is a heart willing to let go of darkness.

This is not something you can do on your own. Will power will fail you.

Ask the Holy Spirit who is sealed in all believers to help you get rid of the imperfections. Remember, it is not by might nor by power but by the Spirit. You have the life of Jesus inside you and He will transform you into the character of God.

Now let’s get back to your personal needs. Jesus operates by faith. Ask and you shall receive but ask according to the will of God. Jesus promises to provide basic necessities but personal indulgence or luxury requests may conflict with His desires. When in doubt ask Jesus.

The point is you cannot manipulate Jesus to accomplish your desires. Keep your motives pure.

The priority is to be a powerful witness for Jesus and obedient to His instructions.

Jesus will ask you to do things that make no sense or may be costly. This is how He measures your faith and devotion to Him.

Jesus wants a symbiotic relationship with a believer. This is a mutually beneficial partnership where both parties win!

Ask Jesus to be your Keeper!

My help comes from the Lord who created the
Heavens and Earth!

The defining point of a Christ follower is seeking out Jesus by faith for your every need. This is a lifestyle of looking solely to God who created the heavens and earth. This is not an intellectual concept; it is believer with a heart devoted to God who believes in the promises of Jesus.

The Christ follower does not depend on self sufficiency or the ties to the world. He is entirely sold out to Jesus for his every need.

God wants to protect your every step. He does not sleep.

God is your keeper. He is like the shade that covers you from the sun.

God desires to protect you from all evil. He will preserve your soul forever.

God desires to preserve your going out and your coming in today. He does this through the Holy Spirit who dwells in all believers.

The Holy Spirit is the life of Christ. He desires to speak to you and fill you with omniscient wisdom from heaven. If you submit to the authority of the Holy Spirit, Jesus will be in every moment of your life.

My God shall supply your every need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus!

The faithful believer does not judge God by what he sees with his eyes. He trusts the promises of a caring and loving God. Jesus keeps his Word!

Speaking the words of Jesus!

So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth;
It shall not return to Me void,
But it shall accomplish what I please,
And it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it.

Many believers speak the words of God but they fall on deaf ears.

This happens because believers are not speaking under the authority of the Holy Spirit.

God knows every detail of those people who will cross your pathway today. He knows what words are powerful and those words that will create unbelief or anger.

The believer must be anointed by the Holy Spirit and equipped with the gifts of the Holy Spirit to be a powerful witness.

Jesus walked all day and was thirsty. He saw the Samaritan woman by the well and struck up a conversation. He asked for a drink of water from the well.

The woman said why are you dealing with me because Jews have nothing to do with Samaritans. This was Jesus acting with unconditional love and no barrier to race or religion.

Then Jesus said “If you knew the gift of God, and who it is who says to you, ‘Give Me a drink,’ you would have asked Him, and He would have given you living water.”

Jesus has now revealed He is a gift from heaven and tells her she should be asking Him for Living Water.

The woman still is confused about Jesus and says “Sir, You have nothing to draw with, and the well is deep. Where then do You get that living water? Are You greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well, and drank from it himself, as well as his sons and his livestock?”

The rivers of Living Water!

Jesus responded and said to her, “Whoever drinks of this water will thirst again, but whoever drinks of the water that I shall give him will never thirst. But the water that I shall give him will become in him a fountain of water springing up into everlasting life.”

Jesus explains He is the source of the Living Water which is the gift of salvation and everlasting life.

The woman then says “Sir, give me this water, that I may not thirst, nor come here to draw.” The woman is asking for the gift of salvation.

The woman is not clean from her past. Jesus confronts her with words of knowledge.

The Holy Spirit convicts you of hidden sin!

Jesus said to her, “Go, call your husband, and come here.”

The woman answered and said, “I have no husband.”

Jesus said to her, “You have well said, ‘I have no husband,’ for you have had five husbands, and the one whom you now have is not your husband; in that you spoke truly.”

The woman said to Him, “Sir, I perceive that You are a prophet. Our fathers worshiped on this mountain, and you Jews say that in Jerusalem is the place where one ought to worship.”

Jesus has uncovered the sin in this woman’s life. She now believes Jesus is a prophet and questions Him about where you worship God—on this mountain or in Jerusalem.

I am a Spirit. Worship Me in Spirit and Truth!

Jesus said to her, “Woman, believe Me, the hour is coming when you will neither on this mountain, nor in Jerusalem, worship the Father. You worship what you do not know; we know what we worship, for salvation is of the Jews. But the hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshipers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for the Father is seeking such to worship Him. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship in spirit and truth.”

Jesus tells the woman the time is near (for his death and resurrection). He explains God is a Spirit and we are to worship Him in spirit and truth. The location is not important. Jesus is everywhere.

Jesus has set the example of how a believer can be a powerful witness. He lives under the authority of the Holy Spirit and speaks the words he hears from God.

The anointed words of God will never return void. They will accomplish what God pleases and will prosper in the thing for which God sent it.

The Samaritan woman was convicted by the Holy Spirit through the words of knowledge spoken by Jesus. The words validated Jesus as the Son of God and created awe and respect in the woman’s heart.

She returned to her village and told everyone about Jesus and many became believers.

Getting the full picture of Jesus!

Most assuredly, I say to you, We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive Our witness.

Jesus is speaking to Nicodemus, a Jewish leader, about the kingdom of God.

Nicodemus knew Jesus was a teacher sent from God and recognized the signs Jesus performed were by the power of God.

Jesus told Nicodemus a believer must be born of water and the Spirit to enter the kingdom of God. He said that which is born of the flesh is flesh and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. You must be born again to see the splendor of the kingdom of God.

Nicodemus was puzzled by this response and tried to rationalize this truth through his intellect.

Jesus said the wind (Holy Spirit) blows where it wishes and you can hear the sound of it but cannot tell where it comes from or where it goes. Jesus was referring to born again believers walking under the authority and guidance of the Holy Spirit. If you belong to Jesus your life is in His hands and He can do with you as He desires.

Nicodemus still could not get the message. Jesus said you are a teacher of Israel and do not know the spiritual truths of God.

Then Jesus said “We speak what We know and testify what We have seen, and you do not receive our witness”. Jesus was explaining He came from God and has personally seen the greatness and glory of God but Nicodemus was blinded to the witness of Jesus.

Most Christians have a very limited perspective of Jesus and have never experienced the reality of the Living Christ. It is impossible to know Jesus unless you are born again. The spiritual speaks to the spiritual.

The believer must be walking under the authority of the Holy Spirit to know Jesus and to understand the principles of New Testament living.

The born again believer is a new creature in Christ Jesus and his old life has passed away and all things are new. The Holy Spirit has baptized the believer into the death and resurrection of Christ.

The new creature is being transformed into the character of God as he dies to self.

The Christ follower must be willing to surrender to Jesus and let go of the ties to the world. Then the wisdom and power of God will flow into His life.

Jesus invites you to be in His presence and see His majesty and glory. This happens to those who are seriously seeking the will of God for their lives.

What does a Christ follower look like?

But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. Against such there is no law.

The fruit of the Spirit is the mirror image of a Christ follower. This fruit cannot come into your life unless you have been crucified with Jesus and have died to fleshly passions and desires. And, you cannot inherit these qualities by doing works.

The Christ follower must be born again and living for Jesus above all else. He must be walking with Jesus under the authority of the Holy Spirit.

What happens in our lives usually affects the fruit of the Spirit. We encounter trials and calamities and the fruit tends to disappear. Or, we have success and are radiant with joy.

We are all human beings with a range of emotions. There is no way a believer can be perfect emotionally. We need to turn to God and release our negative feelings and pray for inner healing.

Ask God to strengthen your faith in times of distress and pour out His peace over you.

The fruit of the Spirit is also grieved by those who live with pride and conceit.

The Christ follower is a humble servant and understands his human nature desires to defy God and live for self. He prays for meekness and the words coming out of his mouth will not be flattering or boastful. How can someone boast who knows Jesus and has been given the priceless gift of salvation?

He who believes in Me will be a fountain of Living Water touching all those around him!

Falling into unbelief and complaining about Jesus will attract poisonous snakes!

Where your fathers tested Me, tried Me, and saw My works forty years.

The priority of Jesus is for believers to walk with Him by faith regardless of the circumstances in life.

Jesus will test your faith by creating trials and calamities in your life. Your response will measure your faith in God.

The Bible verse above relates to the Israelites who were delivered out of slavery in Egypt.

God was ready to give the Israelites the Promised Land. He told Moses to sent twelve spies into the Promised Land to survey their new homeland. Ten of the spies came back and were overwhelmed by the enemy tribes and fearful of defeat. They were afraid to obey God.

This lack of faith made God very angry. He changed His plans for the Israelites to quickly occupy their new homeland. What could have been a quick entry turned into a forty year journey and all of the adults above age twenty died in the wilderness and were not allowed to step into their new homeland.

The Israelites witnessed powerful signs and wonders but were unwilling to trust God on their journey through the wilderness. They wanted security in their own country and did not want to wander in the wilderness living off the provisions of God. They complained bitterly and turned to worship other gods.

The Christ follower cannot build his faith on what he sees with his eyes. God calls things that don’t exist as if they did. This how He created the heavens and earth and works in the life of a believer. Without faith you cannot please God.

God punishes those who complain and fall into unbelief. He sent poisonous snakes to the Israelites and several thousand died.

Jesus delivers believers by directing them to enter into His rest. The victories of Jesus are not by human might nor by power but by His Spirit.

Jesus keeps His promises!

Deaf ears to Jesus!

For as the sash clings to the waist of a man, so I have caused the whole house of Israel and the whole house of Judah to cling to Me,’ says the Lord, ‘that they may become My people, for renown, for praise, and for glory; but they would not hear.’

The Holy Spirit spoke this scripture to me yesterday about how He views many believers in the Body of Christ.

You can read the full account of this in Jeremiah 13.

Abraham is the beginning of this story. He heard the voice of God and was obedient to leave His homeland and security to follow God without any wisdom about where He was going.

God made a covenant with Abraham and told him the Israelites would be His favored people among all the nations.

God delivered the Israelites out of slavery in Egypt. He gave them a new home in the Promised Land and destroyed all their enemies.

The actions of God caused the Israelites to cling to Him like a sash on the waist of a man.

God told the Israelites they were a “set apart” people and were to reflect the renown, praise and glory of God. But the Israelites refused to listen to God or obey His precepts. They turned to the worship of idols and did not take God seriously.

God became very angry and punished the Israelites by allowing their enemies to destroy Jerusalem and scatter the people into desolation.

The Christ follower has the mind of Christ and is instructed to listen and obey the voice of God.

God is a Spirit. We are to worship Jesus in Spirit and Truth. The Spirit of Christ is sealed in all believers and He desires to speak to you and have an ongoing dialogue with you. If you don’t listen to God you cannot do His will.

The people of God must submit to the Holy Spirit and give Him authority over their lives. This decision will fill believers every day with the thoughts of God and His omniscient wisdom. Jesus will be present and alive in all the moments of your life.

The Holy Spirit will keep you on track with Jesus. He will convict and correct you when you make fleshly decisions to live for self that will lead to misery and destruction.

Jesus wants your obedience to His voice. If you are not listening to Jesus you will lose His protection and favor over your life!

Get real about Jesus!

The biggest challenge a Christian faces is surrendering all to Jesus. Very few believers get to this point. The ties to the world are just too important.

Surrendering to Jesus is an internal decision from the heart to agree to live by this spiritual principle:

“Not my will but Yours be done.”

This decision is not about changing your external life or attempting to do works to please God. You have to get to know Jesus.

Jesus desires to live in a personal and embracing relationship with a believer.

Salvation begins with giving Jesus authority over your life and letting go of your rights and independence.

Jesus will be an imposition to your lifestyle because He thinks and acts differently than a human being. And, Jesus does want anything to stand in the way of your relationship with Him.

It is up to you to make this decision. Jesus will never coerce you into making this commitment.

The believer must come voluntarily to Jesus. Salvation is about resting in Jesus and seeking His will for your life. If you surrender to Jesus He promises to meet your every need so there is no need for striving or worrying about the future.

Surrender to Jesus should not be an emotional decision. You will be unable to keep your vow to Jesus when the trials and calamities come.

The Christ follower identifies with Jesus and must die to his natural life on the Cross. The salvation of God is designed to crucify your ego and desires to live for self.

Surrender to Jesus gives you a living presence with Him. Jesus will speak to you and draw you into oneness with Him through the Holy Spirit. For in Him, you will live and move and have your being.

Walk by faith believing in His promises and not what you see with your eyes.

Jesus detests religion. Your only obligation is to obey the Holy Spirit and worship God in a church which honors Jesus and respects the Word of God without compromise.

Surrendering to Jesus is learning to be obedient to His voice regardless of the pain or cost to you. The Christ follower never questions the logic of Jesus. He just obeys God.

Come into a symbiotic relationship with the Living Christ and your life will never be the same. You will know Jesus and trust His every word!

I will be with him in trouble;
I will deliver him and honor him.
With long life I will satisfy him,
And show him My salvation.
