“But the salvation of the righteous is from the Lord; He is their strength in the time of trouble. Psalm 37:39
Troubles will come upon you from time to time. You can’t avoid them! The world is really not your friend but we all live in the world and have to face the challenges in our lives.
David, the author of this Psalm, was chased by his enemies and facing death. He had to hide in caves to avoid persecution. He trusted in God completely for protection and to deliver him into safety.
When you reach a point of helplessness and defeat, this is when God can do great things. It is about turning away from self sufficiency and recognizing your weaknesses and sincerely seeking God.
God is omniscient and knows about all your troubles before they happen. His desire is for you to turn to Him for help and not look for earthly answers or solutions. This is an expression of your faith and dependence on God and it delights His heart.
Whatever your trouble, cast this burden upon God and then let go. You have now placed this in the almighty hands of God and He will create the perfect solution. The problem is no longer yours, it is now God’s problem. He has authority over everything in the heavens and the earth and He will deliver you. When anxiety over the problem comes upon you, just start praising God and thanking Him for His faithfulness.
Turn to God and ask for His peace, protection, and wisdom for dealing with your problem. Jesus died to give you these attributes. You can be standing in the middle of a devastating storm and be filled with the peace and confidence of God.
Take the time to listen to God for His advice! He might simply say to just trust Him or He might give you some specific insight or action to take.
God wants to be your strength in time of trouble. His strength is made perfect in your weakness. Admit to God you feel defeated and lacking strength and He will fill you with His strength.
He will deliver you because you trust in Him. Nothing is impossible with God!
